Your first evening with TiviMate on an Android TV set
The login details arrive by email, usually within a few minutes of completing your order. That email is the one thing you need before you touch the remote. Once it lands, the whole setup — installing TiviMate, adding your provider and landing on a live channel — fits comfortably into a single evening.
This guide follows that order exactly: app first, credentials second, channel third. Each section ends with a small checkpoint so you know you are ready to move on.
Frequently asked questions
- My channel list loaded but every channel shows a black screen. What do I check first?
Start with the network: restart your router, then reopen TiviMate. A black screen on every channel usually means the app cannot reach the stream, which is a connectivity issue rather than a problem with the credentials. If a few channels play and others do not, the issue is with those specific streams, and trying again after a short wait often resolves it.
- Do I need a TiviMate Premium subscription to use the app?
TiviMate has a free tier that lets you add one playlist and use basic playback. A paid upgrade inside the app unlocks multiple playlists, EPG features and a few interface options. For a single subscription on one TV, the free tier is enough to get started.
- My welcome email has not arrived. How long should I wait?
Delivery is usually within a few minutes of payment. Check your spam or junk folder first, since automated emails from new services land there often. If nothing appears after checking spam, contact the support address you used at checkout.
- Can I use the same login on more than one TV at the same time?
Your TiviMate account can be signed in on multiple devices, and that syncs your settings. Whether you can stream on more than one device at the same time depends on the terms of your IPTV subscription specifically, not on TiviMate itself.
- TiviMate is not appearing in Google Play on my TV. What do I do?
Make sure you are searching on a device that runs Android TV or Google TV — the standard Android Play Store on a phone or tablet shows different results. If the TV's Play Store still does not show TiviMate, check that the TV's software is up to date in the system settings, then search again.

Before you open the TV: check your connection
A stable home internet connection is what delivers everything you will watch. No dish, no cable contract — the signal travels over your broadband the same way a video call does.
Check two things before you pick up the remote. First, confirm that your Android TV set is on the same Wi-Fi network you use every day. Second, open a quick YouTube video or a browser on the TV to confirm the connection is live. If the picture stutters there, it will stutter on IPTV too, and the problem sits with the network, not the app.
If your router lives in another room and the TV sits at the far end of the house, a wired Ethernet connection is worth the extra cable. Wi-Fi through two walls at peak evening hours can be enough to cause buffering that disappears the moment you plug in. If you notice slow speeds only in the evenings, the guide on talking to your internet provider about the problem covers exactly what to ask and what information to have ready.
Checkpoint: a short video plays smoothly on the TV before you continue.
Install TiviMate from Google Play
On your Android TV set, open Google Play from the home screen. Use the search field — navigate to it with the directional pad on your remote — and type TiviMate. The app appears as 'TiviMate IPTV Player'. Select it and press Install.
The download takes a moment depending on your connection. When it finishes, press Open directly from the Play Store rather than backing out to the home screen.
Checkpoint: TiviMate opens and shows a welcome screen asking you to add a playlist or a provider.
Add your provider at first start
TiviMate does not come pre-loaded with any channels. You connect it to your subscription on the first run.
- On the welcome screen, choose 'Add Playlist'.
- Select the option that matches the details in your welcome email — typically an M3U URL or an Xtream Codes login (the email will make clear which one).
- Enter the URL, username and password exactly as they appear. A single wrong character here is the most common reason the app shows no channels, so copy carefully or use a keyboard app if your remote makes typing slow.
- Give the playlist a name you will recognize, then confirm.
TiviMate will load the channel list. This can take a few seconds to a minute on first import. When it finishes, the main channel grid appears.
Checkpoint: you can see a channel list on screen.
Find a channel and check picture quality
Scroll through the category list on the left side of the screen. Pick any category — news, sport, a movie channel — and move right to the channel list. Press OK on a channel to start it.
What good looks like: the picture appears within a few seconds, stays stable and fills the screen. What a problem looks like: a spinning buffer icon that does not clear, a frozen frame, or a black screen with an error message.
If buffering appears on the first channel you try, switch to a different one before drawing any conclusions. Some channels carry a heavier load than others at peak times. If several channels buffer, the issue is almost always the network — restarting the router and moving closer to it (or plugging in an Ethernet cable) resolves it in most cases.
TiviMate lets you mark channels as favorites with a long-press, which makes the channels you watch regularly easy to reach without scrolling. If you plan to build out a favorites list around a specific genre, the article on organizing rock music channels into favorites and categories shows how the favorites and search tools work in practice.
Checkpoint: at least one channel plays clearly without interruption.
Sign in with your TiviMate account to protect your setup
TiviMate has its own account system, separate from your IPTV subscription. Creating one is optional but worth doing before you close the app for the night.
Go to Settings (the gear icon), then 'TiviMate account', and sign in or register with an email address. This stores your playlist, your favorites and your settings on TiviMate's servers, so if you ever reset the TV or move to a new device, signing in restores everything rather than making you re-enter credentials from scratch.
The same TiviMate account works across Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices, so a household with more than one streaming box only needs to set up the playlist once.

Checkpoint: you are signed into TiviMate and your playlist is saved to your account.
